The continuing progress of I.T. (Week 10 begins)|
The baby now:
Looks much more human-like, despite my genes (Thanks Sherri!)
Has a heart that has gone from two chambered at the last update to essentially complete. (Lion, eat your heart out!)
Has brain waves that can be found on an EEG. (Scarecrow, eat your heart out!)
Has fingers that are more distinct. (Michael Moore, eat your heart out!)
Is about the size of a strawberry, 1.5 inches long and 1/4 ounce. Will double in size from week 9 to week 12. (Now slightly fatter than mommy.)
Has eyelids that are closing just as eye pigmentation can be found. Will keep eyes closed for weeks. (This is the ONLY similarity to George W. Note the brain waves.)
Has formed inner, external and middle ears, but hasn't figured out where to put them yet.
Has a liver that is 10% of total body weight and is starting to produce red blood cells.
Can type 40 words per minute, although spelling is still quite poor.
One word: Spleen. Say it ten times just for fun.
Head growth is slowing a bit, fingernails are forming and trunk, limb and head muscles are rapidly developing. Large muscles can contract, tastes buds and major blood vessels are forming. Is screaming, "please play me some Mozart and read Dr. Suess!"
Next widwife appt is Aug. 23rd. Let's hope the nausea is soon gone! Trimester two is not too far away.
Countdown to birth:
