No real interest at this time in journaling, other than for baby. All updates are (and will be) at:

Too tired to cross post anymore. The lastest update is at http://itsworld.blogspot.com/

The baby is the only thing I post about lately, so I will post all updates at that site.

12th Week [Sep. 4th, 2004|08:30 pm]
Pseudo Numb
We are now into our 12th week, and IT is growing. S/he now:

is about 2.5 to 3 inches long, having doubled in size in the past 4 weeks or so.
has a brain that can transmit messages such as "tell the arm to tell the hand to tell the finger to go into the mouth."
has an audible heart beat, and sex organs that may be visible on ultrasound (eat your heart out Arnold Schwarzenegger).
can respond to external stimuli such as a poking needle (which we won't insert).
has vocal chords, and can yodel vigorously while playing an accordion.

Cartilage is turning to bone, as alien features melt into babyness.
The brain is fully formed, and IT can feel pain. So please, no Madonna on the car stereo! (Sorry Sherri :-)

The down side:
Bad habits are already starting to develop, like thumb sucking and not wearing seat belts.

The up side:
Sherri's sickness has faded away! I hope for good.

Let's hope our friend Sally will keep on reading, and that mommy and Mozart will become the best of friends.

Countdown to birth:
28 Weeks
199 Days
4,779 Hours
Or 286,763 Minutes

This is a backup entry. For the real baby blog, with photos, etc. visit http://itsworld.blogspot.com/ where comments can also be left.

Finally [Aug. 21st, 2004|11:38 am]
Pseudo Numb
The continuing progress of I.T. (Week 10 begins)

The baby now:
Looks much more human-like, despite my genes (Thanks Sherri!)
Has a heart that has gone from two chambered at the last update to essentially complete. (Lion, eat your heart out!)
Has brain waves that can be found on an EEG. (Scarecrow, eat your heart out!)
Has fingers that are more distinct. (Michael Moore, eat your heart out!)
Is about the size of a strawberry, 1.5 inches long and 1/4 ounce. Will double in size from week 9 to week 12. (Now slightly fatter than mommy.)
Has eyelids that are closing just as eye pigmentation can be found. Will keep eyes closed for weeks. (This is the ONLY similarity to George W. Note the brain waves.)
Has formed inner, external and middle ears, but hasn't figured out where to put them yet.
Has a liver that is 10% of total body weight and is starting to produce red blood cells.
Can type 40 words per minute, although spelling is still quite poor.
One word: Spleen. Say it ten times just for fun.

Also happening:
Head growth is slowing a bit, fingernails are forming and trunk, limb and head muscles are rapidly developing. Large muscles can contract, tastes buds and major blood vessels are forming. Is screaming, "please play me some Mozart and read Dr. Suess!"

Next widwife appt is Aug. 23rd. Let's hope the nausea is soon gone! Trimester two is not too far away.

Countdown to birth:
7 months
30 weeks
213 days
5,124 hours
Or...307,497 minutes!

languishing in mayonnaise [Nov. 30th, 2002|11:41 pm]
Pseudo Numb
I'm languishing in thick malaise
Of chips and beef and mayonnaise
Languishing in bleak despair
Humor dead, and lack of hair

Languishing with buried dreams
Eating bowls of cold ice cream
Growing, growing, growing now
An enervated oafish cow

Languishing in thick malaise
A sinking hurly burly daze
Languishing in apathy
To be, to be, or not to be
